Young & Olsen's Dry Goods Store is a small shop that seems to exist somewhere in the world.
It is run by a young man named Mr. Young and a young woman named Ms. Olsen.
The two of them source the merchandise together, set prices that are easy on the wallet, and arrange the items so they look appealing.
Customers come in every day, pick something out to buy, chat for a bit, and leave saying, “I'll be back.”
Through their daily interactions, the two think about what items suit their customers
and what they might want. If they can find it, they buy it;
if they can’t, they put their heads together and decide to make it themselves.
Since they both love vintage items with character,
they create pieces that look just like their favorite, well-worn vintage items and introduce them to customers.
Even items with short hems or tears—
if they like them, they leave them as is. Items with an unbalanced yet charming look seem to be popular with customers too.
For items that are difficult to make, they sometimes ask a neighbor with nimble hands to craft them.
When a new item is ready, we let customers who might like it know and show it to them.
Sometimes they’ll buy it if they like it, but other times they might not.
When that happens, the two of us put our heads together again and get back to work,
determined to create something truly good—something affordable and built to last.
